Good to know before you go

There's just one ferry on this route: the Jadrolinija car ferry, which takes cars as well as foot passengers. The crossing takes about 50 minutes. From Sumartin it sails 2 to 7 times a day, depending on the season. The first one leaves at 06:30 and the last at 21:00.

Outside summer there are only a few sailings a day, and on Sundays and public holidays the times are different. Pick a date at the top of the page and you'll see exactly which ferries are running that day.

Our tips for the ferry

From the east end of Brač, this ferry is the quickest way back to the Makarska Riviera, with or without a car.

For cars in summer, we'd reserve a place on a specific sailing: this route is one of the few where Jadrolinija lets you do that. Without a reservation, cars board in the order they arrive, so get to Sumartin's quay 30 to 45 minutes early.

Drivers need a ticket for the car and one for themselves. If others are travelling with you, let them buy foot passenger tickets and walk on first: they'll pick the best seats while you drive on below.

On board there's plenty of space indoors and out, plus air conditioning, vending machines and a café bar with small snacks.

How much are the ferry tickets to Makarska?

Where to buy: every company sells tickets online. The "Buy ticket" button next to each departure takes you straight to the right shop.

Jadrolinija: You can also buy them in person in Sumartin, at the Jadrolinija ticket office at the port (Porat 1) (open from an hour before each departure), and in Makarska, at the Jadrolinija ticket office on Obala kralja Tomislava 15 (open from an hour before each departure). If the ticket office is closed, you can buy your ticket on board.

Prices change with the season: tickets cost more in the main season than the rest of the year (you'll find the dates in the price table below). An adult pays €4.10 to €6.40 and a normal car €18.70 to €27.00, depending on the date. The departure list shows the adult price for the day you pick.

With a car: the car ticket doesn't include the driver, so everyone in the car needs a passenger ticket too.

Good to know: a regular Jadrolinija ticket is valid for any sailing on the date you chose. On this route you can also book a ticket for a specific departure.
